Structural Runway Systems
WiscoLift offers structural runway systems for top running and underrunning bridge cranes in multiple configurations, completely freestanding, braced back and ceiling mounted. All of our runways are fabricated by AWS D1.1 and D14.1 certified welders. Our team of crane specialists will also work with your building supplier or engineer to provide crane loading information where building mounted runways are called for.
- Semi-Freestanding Crane Runway - Semi-Freestanding are braced back to the building. if bracing is not appropriate, a Freestanding Header-Braced or Knee-Braced runway would be used.
- Freestanding Header-Braced Crane Runway – A bridge is on top of the runway. Header is braced to the bridge.
- Knee-Braced Crane Runway – A diagonal structure that joins a building column to the overhead runway.
Top Running Bridge Cranes
Top running bridge cranes are designed for facilities with low headroom. The system moves above runway on a fixed rail or track system, allowing the end trucks to carry the bridge and hoist along the top of the runway system. This allows more space between the hook and the ground. These systems can be configured as follows:
- Manual Overhead Bridge Crane – A Manual Crane involves push/pull operations so is used only when lifting loads are not very heavy.
- Single Girder Motorized Bridge Crane – A single beam that supports the trolley and is attached to the end trucks.
- Double Girder Bridge Crane – Two beams that run parallel along the crane runway.
Underrunning Bridge Cranes
In general, underhung bridge cranes are a lot lighter than a top running system and allow for more versatility. Underhung bridge cranes are typically used for lighter applications and are commonly mounted from the ceiling. Interlocks and switches can also be used with a monorail and they can be set-up to transfer a load to an adjacent crane.
